OSWEGO, NY – In conjunction with the National Schools Project, Melissa Hopkins and Patricia Dixon’s class at the Kingsford Park Elementary School wrote Haiku poems for the 2011 Young American Poetry Contest.
Ten students’ poems were selected for publication in the 2011 Edition of the Young American Poetry Digest.
The poems were selected by a panel of educators who evaluated overall quality of the poem based on creativity, age-appropriate language, sensory/figurative images, structure and poetic techniques.
Students included (front row) Josh Sterio, Alyssa Morley and Julia Roman.
