KPS Students Off To See The Wizard

OSWEGO, NY – Kingsford Elementary School students “followed the Yellow Brick Road.”

The annual musical was recently presented on stage at Oswego High School’s Ralph M. Faust Theatre for the Performing Arts as the singers, dancers, actors and actresses from Kingsford Park presented “The Wizard of Oz.”

Music teacher and director Lori Hotaling was proud of the performance.

“They worked so hard to present this show. The students dedicated their time and talent with weeks of rehearsals,” she said. “The finished product was outstanding and it is a joy to share this show with parents, family, friends and members of the community.”

The huge cast brought to life all of the well-known songs from the show including “Follow the Yellow Brick Road,” “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” and “We’re off to See the Wizard.”

Paige Daniels played the lead role of Dorothy while also starring were Kyle Osmun (Scarecrow), Christopher VanGorder (Tin Man) and Mackenzie Rice (Lion).

Emily Purce and David Avery played Auntie Em and Uncle Henry, respectively.

The mean Miss Gulch was played by Claire Richardson.

The part of Glinda the Good Witch was performed by Alexis Daniels while Claire Richardson was the Wicked Witch.

Elaina Rando was the Mayor while Rachel Leotta the Barrister and Isabel O’Brien was the Coroner.

Representing the Lullaby League were Hayley Masuicca, Victoria Armet and Emily Purce.

The members of the Lollipop Guild included David Avery, Ashley Bivens, Laurencia Susino and Madison Bell.

Special Munchkins were Claudia Chetney, Eleanor Lisec, Madeline Riester, Emmaline Riester and Brianna Bush while the Munchkin Elders were Adeline Benjamin and Brianna Bush.

Upon the arrival to Oz, Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Man and Lion meet the Wizard (Nick Sullivan) and the Guardian (Christian Cary).

Other performers included Elaina Rando (Sound) and playing crows were Courtney Warren, Will Bandla, Samantha Lee, Jaielle Litchison, Meghan Maniccia, Kristin Gurule and Missy Kelly.

Jacob Bartlett, Nathan Barker, Michael Allen and Kayla Brown all were trees while the monkeys included Will Bandla, Missy Kelly, Rachel Leotta, Cassandra Romeo, Avery Richards, Kaleigh Roy, Maya Tonkin and Liam Benjamin.
