Kristen Bartholomew OHS Bands ‘Musician Of Month’

OSWEGO, NY – Oswego High School senior Kristen Bartholomew has been selected as the OHS Bands “Musician of the Month.”

Kristen is principal trumpet in the Oswego High School Wind Ensemble, Lead Trumpet with OHS Jazz Band “A” and member of the OHS Brass Quintet. She has been a member of the Marching Buccaneers for five years and was featured frequently as trumpet soloist. Kristen has auditioned for and earned positions in a variety of ensembles at the county and state levels.

She was principal trumpet in the 2010 Oswego County All County Band & Orchestra, a position she also auditioned for and earned as a junior.

Kristen was 1st trumpet in the 2008 and 2009 Area All State Band, competing against the finest students from Oswego, Madison and Oneida counties.

Kristen was one of 97 members selected nationwide chosen from more than 1300 applicants for the US Army All American Marching Band in San Antonio Texas. The band performed at halftime in the Alamodome for the All American Bowl which was broadcast on NBC this past January.

In addition to her musical achievements, Kristen is captain of the OHS Winter Guard. She is currently ranked seventh in her graduating class.

She is also a member of the National Honor Society and participates in Ski Club where she is an avid snowboarder.

She works at Tara Animal Hospital and plans to pursue a career in veterinary medicine.

Kristen has applied to SUNY ESF at Syracuse University, Ohio State, Cornell, St. Lawrence, Keuka College.
