OSWEGO, NY – To celebrate the second anniversary of its opening, Lakeside Artisans is presenting a series of Saturday afternoon art events.
On March 9, from 1 to 3 p.m., Lakeside Artisans’ member Michele Southgate will demonstrate her unique method of combining watercolor painting with collage.

All the events will take place at Lakeside Artisans, 191 W. First St.
Southgate received her undergraduate degree in Fine Arts from Manhattanville College and her Masters in Art Education from College of New Rochelle. She is a retired art teacher who taught at Oswego Middle School for most of her teaching career.
“When I retired from teaching, my wish was to concentrate on creating a body of my own artwork. I have been fortunate to be able to fulfill my wish.” said Southgate.
Other art demonstrations planned for the anniversary celebration include:
March 2, John Ruttan’s wood lathe
March 23, Cindy Schmidt’s hand-painted silk scarves
March 30, Mary Lou Carpenter of Picture Connection’s matting and framing your paintings.
Kathy Fenlon’s fabric bag creations will be the Featured Artist’s items for the month of March with an artist’s reception on March 16 from 1 to 3 p.m.
