Lanigan’s 6th Grade Promotion Ceremony

Lanigan Elementary School held their sixth grade promotion ceremony where student achievement and involvement in all educational areas were recognized. Michael Flynn was recognized for his exemplary attendance with zero days absent for the 2010-11 school year.

The following students received the President’s Educational Achievement Award to honor student achievement and hard work: Gilly Aubeuf, Erin Baker, Aryelle Barbagallo, Frank Barbagallo, Trent Berry, Cole Daniels, Roy French, Diana Galoni, Emily Gerth, James Gray, Nicole Hansen, Emma Holmes, David Houck, Hunter Hubel, Karly Kearns, Richard King, Nicholas Kinney, Desiree Kopf, Mitchell LaBeef, Michael Mankiewicz, Ryan Morehouse, Zoe Norton, Mikayla Ogden, Madison Reynolds, Sarah Rice, Michael Savich, Payton Stowell, Phillip Summerville, Sydney Tetro, Abiu Velasquez, James Ward, Malcolm Wettering, Kaelee Wise, Cassandra Wood, Maryssa Woodcock, and Shannon Zych.

The Jonas Award is presented to an outgoing sixth grader who has a love of learning, a love of people, and a love of community. The award was created in memory of Robert and Alice Jonas who passed on to their son, a love of learning. The award, along with a Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary was given to Nicholas Kinney.

The NYS Comptroller’s Achievement Award is given to a student who exhibits leadership potential along with a commitment to community service. This year’s recipient of the NYS Comptroller’s Achievement Award was presented to Kaelee Wise.

The Lamp of Learning Award was given to students who had achieved honor roll status for all four marking periods of the school year. The following students were recognized for this award: Erin Baker, Aryelle Barbagallo, Frank Barbagallo, Trent Berry, Cole Daniels, Julia Ende, Roy French, Diana Galoni, James Gray, Emily Gerth, Nicole Hansen, David Houck, Karly Kearns, Mitchell LaBeef, Michael Mankiewicz, Zoe Norton, Mikayla Ogden, Madison Reynolds, Sarah Rice, Michael Savich, Rebecca Segouin, Payton Stowell, Phillip Summerville, Sydney Tetro, Sarah Tallents, James Ward, Malcolm Wettering, Cassandra Wood, and Shannon Zych.

The George MacDonald Award was presented to the outstanding sixth grade boy and girl who possessed a positive attitude, excellence in academics and was involved in community service during the year. The 2011 recipients of the George MacDonald Award were Aryelle Barbagallo and James Ward.

The ceremony ended with a video presentation of sixth grade highlights from the year.
