FULTON, NY – The weather outside may have been frightful, but the music was most delightful at Lanigan Elementary School as they celebrated the holiday season with family and friends at their annual Holiday Concert.

The event featured the school’s band, orchestra and chorus, who took audience members on a musical adventure through the winter holiday season.

Students entertained a packed auditorium with holiday classics such as “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” and “Good King Wenceslas.”

The audience was delighted by some new songs that put a little twist on traditional favorites, such as “B.B. Christmas” and “Blitzen’s Boogie,” which were followed by a wave of chuckles.

Many students were draped from head to toe in holiday décor from sequins Santa hats to having strands of garland wrapped around their instruments, adding holiday spirit to each performance.

Student Maryssa Woodcock took a moment to smile for the camera as she played her chello during the Lanigan Holiday Concert held recently at the school. The Lanigan Orchestra, led by Anna Santy, ended the concert on a good note with the songs “Part of Your World,” “Good King Wenceslas” and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas,” in which the audience was encouraged to sing along.

As each group performed, parents were given several opportunities to bring their cameras to the front row and take pictures.

The concert came to a close with Lanigan Principal Dan Johnson giving thanks to everyone for being part of the special evening and wishing all students, family and friends a happy and safe holiday season.

He added, “I’m so proud of the dedication and hard work that our students have put into making this concert special. Thank you for sharing this evening with us.”
