LCDR Farnsworth Appointed Commanding Officer United State Naval Sea Cadet Corp Truxtun DDG-103 Division Oswego During Change Of Command Ceremony

There are many special ceremonies in the United States Sea and United States Navy League Cadet Corps. That are different from civilian life. Every division, battalion and squadron operates under the authority of an officer assigned by NHQ Arlington Virginia, United States Navy League.

By order of National Headquarters, The United States Naval Sea Cadet Corp,  Truxtun DDG-103 Division, Oswego,  USNSCC/USNLCC announced that Lieutenant

Commander Robert K. Ramstad was relieved as commanding officer by Lieutenant Commander Peg A. Farnsworth. The change of command took place on Saturday, 11th October 2008 at 1100. All ships company participated on watch or in attendance to observe this ceremony that is old as the sea service itself.
The Truxtun DDG-103 Division wished Lieutenant Commander Ramstad, Janet and all the Ramstad Family the traditional salute of “fair winds and following seas” as they move on to the 108th Seabee Battalion located in Rome, New York.

Lieutenant Commander Farnsworth comes aboard as the past commanding office of the VADM J.B. Stockdale Division located at the NOSC, Mattydale, New York.  She has been in the Corps. Since 1994. Served three command tours with twice  the division being in the top ten in the United States. Along with this record of  service, the Stockdale Division had the high honor of being the only unit out of the United States to participate at the World War II dedication of assisting veterans during this special time in their lives. Lieutenant Commander Farnsworth looks forward of the day the Truxtun DDG-103 makes it mark in the top ten.

Along with duties and responsibilities, a staff of officers complete the team. Lieutenant Junior Grade George W. Hoffman Jr serves as the division Executive Officer and is the liaison between the Commanding Officer, staff and crew.  The staff reporting directly to the Executive Officer, are Ensign Brinkerhoff as the training Officer, Instructor Paul Santore II as the Operation Officer, Instructor Jennie Fishers as the Administrative and Personnel Officer, and Instructor Brinkerhoff as the Supply officer.  Santore also fills the bill as the division Chaplain while Hoffman as Santore handle Medical Issues.

The Truxtun Division meets one weekend a month and is instructed in Military bearing.  They have a chance to attend Summer Training and advance training as they progress. They participate in various parades and events throughout the community. The age limit for the Navy Leaguers is 10 to 14 and for Sea Cadets 14 to 18.  The next drill weekend is Saturday and Sunday November 8th and 9th.  This drill weekend will be an open house and anyone interested in learning more about the program is invited to attend.  The drill weekend is from 7Am Saturday through 4PM Sunday.
