“This is a wonderful opportunity for youth services providers to come together and show the community what they have to offer the youth of Oswego County as well as inform them about careers and employment opportunities that exist in their organization,” said Director of the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau, Kathy Fenlon, a member of the event’s planning committee.

Fenlon explained that the format of the forum would allow for agency representatives to present a short synopsis of their particular program.

Each agency will also be able to display and distribute information about their youth programs to those in attendance as well as other participating agencies.

The committee is anticipating welcoming representatives from organizations offering youth services such as:

Jobs/Training, Mentoring Services, Recreation Programs/Services, Runaway/Shelter/Homeless Services, Family Focused Programming, Cultural Services, Juvenile Justice Services, Youth Development Services, Conflict Resolution Services, Health/Mental Health Services.

Executive Director of the United Way of Greater Oswego County, Melanie Trexler cited agencies involved for their collaborative efforts on the event.

“The youth forum is an excellent example of our human services agencies working together to help achieve a common good…helping our youth and their families,” she said.

Committee member Mike Perkins of the Oswego YMCA echoed those thoughts.

“This kind of collaboration truly demonstrates the United Way’s Live United concept that we are all connected. It was a pleasure working with other agencies and their representatives that served on the planning committee.”
