Local Youngsters Enjoying Week At Sheriffs’ Sponsored Camp

Submitted article

This week, July 13, 2008 through July 19, 2008, children from Oswego County are spending time at Camp Iroquois located near Penn Yan, NY, in a program sponsored by the New York State Sheriffs’ Association Institute.

During their week-long stay the children will have fun participating in the usual camp activity that includes swimming, hiking, boating, crafts, etc., and will also receive education about the D.A.R.E. (Drug Awareness-Resistance Education) program, boat and bike safety programs, law enforcement equipment and technical demonstrations, and pistol and archery competitions.  The children will be given the opportunity to work with Sheriffs and Deputy Sheriffs from across New York State, giving them a sense of good citizenship as well.

As shown in the picture, Sheriff Reuel A. Todd, Oswego County, joined the children as they boarded the bus to camp last Sunday.
