OSWEGO COUNTY – Students at Lura Sharp Elementary School participated in a unique, hands-on learning experience during a first-of-its-kind First Responders Day field trip to the nearby Ringgold Fire Company.
During the event, students walked to the local fire station to meet and interact with a wide range of emergency personnel, including members of the Ringgold Fire Company, New York State Police, local police officers, Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) officers, and local EMT/EMS responders.
The educational visit provided students with an up-close look at the daily duties and responsibilities of community helpers. Students toured emergency vehicles, explored specialised equipment and gear, and spoke directly with responders to learn how each agency works to keep the community safe.
Designed to foster both educational engagement and community appreciation, the interactive outing gave students a memorable opportunity to express their gratitude while building positive connections with local first responders.
