MINETTO, NY – Magic In Minetto is a fun event for the whole family. It is scheduled for Aug. 7, 8 and 9.
A great concert is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday by the New Horizons Band a 35-piece band.
The band plays classic favorite including show tunes and marches.
The concert will be held at the Minetto Methodist Church.
Saturday’s events go from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Events include music, children’s face painting and historical society displays.
There will also be a Tae Kwon Do demonstration, free ice cream social for children, food and soft drinks.
A fun 1.5-mile recreational canoe/kayak race is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
The race has a separate family adult/child entry category. Pre-registration is free or $5 on site.
Tour the 65′ bio-diesel tug boat Honey. The tug’s engine has been converted to burn cooking oil rather than use diesel fuel.
The Minetto Fire Department will have available the Oswego County Fire/Disaster Simulator for the public to enter. The simulator can create the effect of a smoky fire, and various types of severe storms.
It is intended as a safety teaching and training aid for children, but adults will also enjoy and learn safety information.
The Country Cruizers will be present with their antique and classic cars for all to look at and reminisce.
Sunday is an open day where you can enjoy the park and its plantings and flowers, have a picnic or launch your canoe or kayak.
Travel the river south for two miles and view the wildlife, old locks and the historic Battle Island area.
