The MOST is pleased to announce that at its Savoring Science Gala, a major gift of $50,000 was awarded to the Making MORE of the MOST capital campaign placing the total over $5.5 million towards the goal of $8.9 million.

The generous gift was presented by Jonathan Snow, Vice President and Treasurer for the Board of Directors on behalf of the John Ben Snow Foundation, Inc. and Memorial Trust to Jeff Rubenstein, the capital campaign co-chair.  In presenting the gift, Mr. Snow said: “It is a privilege to partner with the MOST and the numerous other donors in this campaign.  In light of current events, we are excited to lend our support to the forthcoming Energy exhibit in order to heighten awareness of the key role that energy and specifically alternative sources of energy will play in our future.” This most recent gift is not merely meant to refurbish the museum, Mr. Rubenstein explained but “is a commitment to take the MOST to a whole new level making it the consummate resource for science and technology education and entertainment in our area.”

The entire gift is slated for the Energy exhibit, one of six brand new permanent exhibits being installed at the MOST.  Opening in 2009, the Energy exhibit will join the three already opened permanent exhibits; the Science Playhouse, Earth Science Discovery Cave, and Technotown along with Life Sciences which is slated to open later this year.

The John Ben Snow Foundation and Memorial Trust was established in 1948 by John Ben Snow, a native of Pulaski, New York and is involved with numerous non-profit organizations devoted to the arts, education, community initiatives, historic preservation, journalism and the environment within Central and Northern New York.
