Marching Bucs Bound For Bands Of America In Maryland

OSWEGO, NY – The Oswego High School Marching Buccaneers will prepare for this year’s New York State Field Band Conference Championships as they travel to Maryland this weekend.

This Saturday, Oswego will compete in the Bands of American Regional at Towson University as bands from all along the Eastern Seaboard will be in competition.

Oswego will depart at 7 a.m. on Friday from Oswego High School and head to York, Pa., as a base of operations for the weekend.

After checking in and eating dinner, the band will move to Penn Manor High School in Millersville, Pa., for three hours of evening rehearsal in preparation for Saturday.

The schedule of bands will commence at 9:30 a.m. with the Annapolis Area Christian School from Maryland and following will be East Lincoln and East Carteret from North Carolina.

Oswego will take to the field for competition at 10:15 a.m.

Following the Bucs will be Princess Anne of Virginia and North Carolina’s Fuquay-Varina.

Continuing the competition will be Dee Lakes from Pennsylvania, Dutch Fork of South Carolina, Oolteway from Tennessee, Bridgewater-Raritan from New Jersey, Hickory from Virginia and Maryland’s Governor Thomas Jefferson.

In the afternoon the bands vying for a berth in the evening finals include Allatoona from Georgia, Cary Senior of North Carolina, Cape Fear and Wakefield of North Carolina, Faytee County of Georgia, North Penn from Pennsylvania and Westminster of Maryland.

At 4 p.m. awards will be presented and the top bands will advance to the evening competition under the lights of Towson University Stadium.

It is anticipated the band will arrive at the Oswego High School at 10 p.m. on Sunday.

The next competition for the Bucs will be on Oct. 31 under the Carrier Dome on the Syracuse University campus to compete in the NYSFBC championship event. missing or outdated ad config
