Maritime Adventures Set At Marine Museum

OSWEGO, NY – The H. Lee White Marine Museum is unveiling a new waterfront program this summer called “Maritime Adventures.”

Only three dates have been scheduled for July, but each day includes a three-hour-long adventure of activities, art, crafts and games held on the Museum Pier rain or shine.

Professional instructors Roey Bannon Pimentel, Joe Rial and Robin Snyder will lead one of the sessions.

In each adventure, children will explore various arts and crafts, play games from the magic treasure chest, enjoy a pirate feast and experience a few maritime shenanigans.

The arts and crafts will use a variety of topics to engage your creativity.

The sessions are geared for ages 5-12 years of age.

“It’s certainly a wonderful way to enjoy the summer, creating art with the scenic Oswego waterfront as your backdrop,” said Samantha Fiorini, AmeriCorps member and program coordinator.

Each session is $15 per child (contact the museum office for a family discount for 3 or more kids) with supplies and grub included.

To ensure a minimum class size of participants must pre-register at least two days in advance.

You may sign up your child for just one or as many sessions as you wish.

The following sessions featuring specially created art activities are still available:

July 15, noon to 3 p.m., “Window Beacon” with Roey Bannon Pimentel. Explore a nautical view by making a ship’s porthole with a stained glass technique and sea spray.

July 21, noon to 3 p.m., “Salty Dog Shipyard” with Joe Rial. Construct and paint your own sailing ship by using materials found in your own home.

July 28, noon to 3 p.m., “The Ocean Creature Roundup” with Joe Rial. Create your own mobile for your bedroom of unique maritime creatures.
