Last year, Zach and Alex Bush, Hannah Gorman, Jordan and Lydia Tryon learned about safe fishing through the "Learn to Fish" program at the Oswego Maritime Foundation.

The Oswego Maritime Foundation is offering a fun fishing program for the second year in the Historic Maritime District.  The “Learn To Fish” Program is for boys and girls ages 5-8 years old. Each course lasts for one week (4 days) and is held from 9-11:30 or 1-3:30 Monday through Thursday for a total of ten hours during August. Topics covered are:  Safety, Knot-tying, Weight/bobber Selection, Handling/unhooking fish, Casting technique and Fish Identification. The cost is $40.00 per child. Students are encouraged to bring their own lifejackets and rod/reel however gear will be available for novices. No prior experience needed for this shore-based program.
