A concert in support of Steven Maynard’s upcoming study at the Bel Canto Institute in Florence, Italy, will showcase talented individuals and groups on April 11 beginning at 7 p.m. at the Pulaski High School auditorium.
A suggested donation of $3 is asked for admission, but is not required.

Maynard, a senior at Pulaski High School, heard about the prestigious institute last year while studying at Boston University’s Tanglewood Institute. He auditioned for admission into the four-week Bel Canto program and was accepted.
Maynard will attend Bel Canto for four weeks over the summer and will leave for Italy the day after his high school graduation.
While in Italy he will stay with a host family and at the institute will receive instruction in Italian language, Italian diction, performance classes on tradition and style in opera, private voice lessons, the history of Florence and its musical past and much more.
At the end of the four weeks, the students in the program will perform a concert at the international music festival for the public in Florence.
Maynard is excited to attend the institute and looks forward to working with the faculty there.
“Most of the faculty at the camp are retired Metropolitan Opera singers,” he said.
Maynard is interested in pursuing a career in classical opera and hopes to study voice performance in college in the fall.
Maynard’s friends from across the county and even some he met while at Tanglewood will be on hand to perform at the concert on April 11.
Anyone wishing to help support Maynard’s study at Bel Canto, but are unable to attend the concert may do so by contacting Aimee Mumford at Pulaski High School at 315-298-5103.
