Mayor Bateman Appoints Historical Review Committee

OSWEGO, NY – At its Jan. 24 meeting, the Oswego Common Council approved revisions to the Downtown Design Guidelines and also authorized Mayor Randy Bateman to appoint a five-member committee to serve as the Historical Review Committee.

Mayor Bateman is pleased to announce that the following members have agreed to serve on this important committee: Mary Ciappa, as chairperson, who is also a member of the Oswego Planning Board and will act as liaison between the Planning Board and the Historical Review Committee; Charles D. Young, Martha M. Barrett, Austin Wheelock and Mark Proud.

Community Development Director Mary Vanouse and City Zoning Administrator Anthony Leotta will serve as advisory members to the new committee.

The Downtown Design Guidelines apply to all development activity in the B2 and B3 zones located in the Oswego downtown district.

Development activity shall include all new construction, rehabilitation and renovation plans, which shall be reviewed by the Historical Review Committee.

The committee will render an advisory opinion to the Planning Board as to its review of the plans.
