The event was part of OCO’s March for Meals Campaign to raise awareness of the program and recruit as many people as possible can to OCO in the national movement to end senior hunger by 2020.

“We appreciate the support we received from those who participated. It’s a wonderful opportunity for mayors and community leaders to meet some of their constituents and see first hand the value of our Home Delivered Meal Service,” said Trinity Engle, coordinator of OCO Senior Nutrition Services.

Initiated by the Meals On Wheels Association of America, March For Meals is a national campaign that seeks to raise awareness of senior hunger and to encourage action on the part of the local community.

Senior nutrition programs across the United States, including OCO’s Home Delivered Meals Service that serves Oswego County, promoted March For Meals in their local communities through public events, partnerships with local businesses, volunteer recruitment and fundraising initiatives.

Administered through OCO’s Senior Nutrition Services and funded in part through Oswego County Office for the Aging, the OCO’s Home Delivered Meal Service provides delivery of nutritious meals to Oswego County residents who are homebound.

Program participants receive two nutritionally balanced meals a day up to five days a week.

Holiday meals are also available for Memorial Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

OCO’s Senior Nutrition Services also administers several dining and activity centers where seniors can enjoy a hot, nutritious noontime meal and visit with friends.

These centers are located in Fulton, Pulaski, Oswego, Mexico, Hannibal, Parish, Phoenix and Constantia.
