McCloskey, Liberati and Sheldon Join Step One Creative As Spring Interns

OSWEGO, New York – Step One Creative, an Oswego-based marketing communications firm, has announced that Julie McCloskey, of Hopewell Junction, New York; Nick Liberati, of Poughkeepsie, New York; and Nicole Sheldon, of Oswego, New York; have joined their agency as interns for the spring semester, according to President Shane R. Stepien.

McCloskey, a senior marketing major at SUNY Oswego, and Liberati, a senior public relations major at SUNY Oswego, will assist Stepien in various client marketing projects, events and research.

Sheldon, who will work with Creative Director Mark Proud, is a senior graphic design major at SUNY Oswego, and will assist Step One with various design projects and development.

“We’re excited to welcome all three interns to our agency,” said Stepien. “We look forward to having them assist us on a variety of new projects throughout the spring.”

“They all are very talented and enthusiastic about succeeding in the fields of marketing, communications and graphic design ,” said Proud. “Each will be a valuable addition to our team here at Step One.”

In addition to McCloskey’s internship at Step One Creative, she is also a four-year scholar athlete at SUNY Oswego, playing for the Women’s Soccer team and running for the Women’s Track and Field teams.  She enjoys volunteering her time and will be participating in building a house with Habitat for Humanity during her spring break this March.

“I am very excited about this opportunity to learn more about the inter workings of a marketing and communications firm,” said McCloskey. “Being able to increase my knowledge of various marketing activities will be very beneficial for my last semester here at SUNY Oswego and also down the road towards my career.”

Liberati, who previously interned for Step One during the summer of 2009, is also a student athlete, playing for the Oswego State Men’s Soccer team. Liberati interns on campus as well, helping to promote campus events and community service opportunities.

“I had a wonderful experience last year with Step One and look forward to taking on new public relations initiatives,” said Liberati. “They have allowed me to expand my abilities and understanding of the public relations field, which will be invaluable to me as I enter the job market in May.”

Sheldon enjoys practicing Bikram yoga and creates various creative projects for her family business, a Bikram Yoga studio, located in Oswego, New York.

“I am very interested in brand design and am seeking experience and skills for a future career in this field,” said Sheldon. “I am very excited to obtain this experience at Step One Creative and am eager to use the knowledge and skills I develop here for opportunities going forward.
