SYRACUSE, NY – Following is message from the McMahon Ryan Child Advocacy Center concerning their annual Go Blue 4 Kids Breakfast in Syracuse:

McMahon Ryan Child Advocacy Center is holding their annual Go Blue 4 Kids Breakfast to kick off National Child Abuse Prevention Month in April

Guest Speaker, Victor Rivas Rivers, an actor starring in more than 2 dozen films, Born in Sancti Spiritus, Cuba, Victor came with his family to this country at the age of 2, enduring horrific child abuse and witnessing domestic violence on the level of torture at the hands of his father.

At age 15, Victor took the then-unprecedented legal action against his father, going on to live with a series of foster families. Thanks to the intervention of his community, he turned his life around dramatically – going from hardcore gang member to senior class president and earning letters in four sports. Victor is now an Actor, Athlete and National Spokesperson for the National Network to End Domestic Violence. Join us as he tells his story.

The Go Blue 4 Kids Breakfast is a premiere event, which kicks off a month of events and activities aimed at increasing awareness of child sexual abuse in our community and the education and prevention efforts McMahon Ryan Child Advocacy Center provides.

McMahon Ryan Child Advocacy Center is dedicated to ending child abuse in our community through prevention, intervention, and education by facilitating a coordinated multidisciplinary team approach, meeting the needs of children and families in Onondaga County.
