MEXICO – John McKeown’s 23 years of experiences in financial management and business administration has led him to the Mexico Academy and Central School District as its new School Business Administrator.

The majority of his career – 17 years – was spent as a school business administrator for small, rural schools in Herkimer County. McKeown also spent six years in financial management for city and county governments.
He comes to MACS with expertise in capital project management, strategic planning, long-term planning with budgeting and organizational management.
He said joining the MACS team was a natural progression for him and he is thrilled to see what the 2017-18 school year brings.
“I’m excited to continue to explore opportunities to contribute to a great extent here and grow in the position as time goes on,” McKeown said.
He received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from SUNY Brockport, a master’s degree in finance from SUNY IT and a Certificate of Advanced Study in School Business Administration from SUNY Brockport.
McKeown and his wife, Maureen, have been married for 24 years and have two boys in college.
Outside of work, he enjoys kayaking, hiking and camping with his family.
