Moyers Corners FD Reaping Rewards from Donation Program

Firefighters from Moyers Corners often put their health and safety at risk to help local citizens. This year, the department created a program that gives back in a couple ways. They’ve partnered with Can Make Money Redemption in Phoenix to process returnable bottles and cans donated to the fire department. At least a couple times per month, firefighters make the short drive north on Route 57 to drop off donated returnables. Sometimes several trucks and trailers arrive at once.

“Bags of cans and bottles could be a fire or tripping hazard,” says MCFD Lieutenant Nate Gilman. “People clean up their living space, and the department collects the funds to put toward the MCFD Member Benevolent fund. It’s a win-win for the community.”

“So far this year, we’ve processed over five thousand dollars worth of units for the fire department,” says CMMR manager Margie. “Knowing that funding directly benefits our local citizens gives me and the staff here a warm feeling.”
