PHOENIX, NY – The John C. Birdlebough High School auditorium will transform into the post-Civil War “Old West” as this year’s drama club takes the stage for its fall production, “Much Ado out West.”
Inspired by Shakespeare’s battle-of-the-sexes romantic comedy, “Much Ado About Nothing,” the spinoff includes a full complement of characters who encounter love while also battling over gender roles of the era. When the men return from the Civil War, they discover that the women have been doing all the roping and ranching in their absence, setting the stage for a comedic battle of the sexes.
“This show is filled with witty, Western-flavored dialogue, Shakespearian twists and turns, and lots of wild and untamed characters,” said the show’s producer, Lisa Spereno. “We’re excited to bring this fun romantic comedy to the stage for our audience.”
“Much Ado out West” will take the stage at 4 p.m. Nov. 4, and at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 5 and 6. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for senior citizens, children and students. To purchase tickets, please visit Showtix4u www.showtix4u.com or email [email protected].
Doors will open at 6:45 p.m., and masks are required at all times for all patrons, regardless of vaccination status.
