New York Army National Guard Promotions

LATHAM, NY – Major General Ray Shields, the Adjutant General for the State of New York, announces the promotion of members of the New York Army National Guard in recognition of their capability for additional responsibility and leadership.

Stephen Chiarizia from West Monroe (13167), N.Y., and assigned to the Company C, 2nd Battalion, 108th Infantry Regiment, received a promotion February 2, 2023 to the rank of staff sergeant.

Colin Joyce from Oswego (13126), N.Y., and assigned to the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 27th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, received a promotion February 21, 2023 to the rank of captain.

Ian Wilson from Fulton (13069), N.Y., and assigned to the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 108th Infantry Regiment, received a promotion April 5, 2023 to the rank of staff sergeant.

Army National Guard promotions are based on a Soldier’s overall performance, demonstrated leadership abilities, professionalism and future development potential.

These promotions recognize the best qualified Soldiers for a career in the New York Army National Guard.
