Northern Oswego County Health Services, Inc. Earns Re-Accreditation From The Joint Commission

PULASKI, New York – Northern Oswego County Health Services, Inc. (NOCSHI), operator of the Pulaski Health Center, has been re-accredited by The Joint Commission (formerly the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Health Care Organizations).  To maintain accreditation, organizations must have an extensive onsite review by a team of Joint Commission health care professionals at least once every three years.   An onsite survey was conducted at NOCHSI on May 21 and 22, 2009.  Participation in The Joint Commission’s accreditation process is voluntary.

The Joint Commission is an independent, not-for-profit organization that evaluates the quality and safety of care for more than 16,000 health care organizations.   The purpose of the review is to evaluate the organization’s performance in areas that affect patient care.  Accreditation is awarded based on how well the organization meets Joint Commission standards.

The Joint Commission standards address the organization’s performance in key functional areas to ensure that patient care is provided in a quality and safe manner.  These performance areas include patient rights, patient treatment and infection control.

“Earning re-accreditation from the Joint Commission offers an objective and credible endorsement of NOCHSI’s efforts to provide the highest quality health care to our community residents,” according to Daniel Dey, NOCHSI’s CEO.  “It is also a tribute to the dedication and skill of the NOCHSI staff.”

According to Dr. Patrick Carguello, NOCHSI’s Chief Medical Officer, “Joint Commission accreditation strengthens the community’s confidence in quality and safety of care, treatment, and services provided at NOCHSI. The survey process also allows us to identify opportunities for continuous improvement, which is a priority for NOCHSI.”

NOCHSI operates the Pulaski Health Center at 61 Delano Street in Pulaski, N.Y.  The Pulaski Health Center is a family-oriented health care practice that provides Northern Oswego and Southern Jefferson County residents with a variety of comprehensive health care and related services.  NOCHSI also operates school-based health centers in the APW, Pulaski, and Sandy Creek School Districts.  For additional information on the services provided through NOCHSI contact 298-6564 or visit www.pulaskihealthcenter.org.
