The ceremony took place at the Oswego High School Ralph M. Faust Theatre for the Performing Arts as district employees gathered to commence the new year.

Crist noted, “The recipients of the ‘Friends’ Award for the Oswego City School District this year are Novelis and Dr Robert Morgan. I am sincerely appreciative for the service that each recipient has provided and continues to do as allies with our school district.”

Every year individuals, businesses and community organizations do great things for Oswego’s students.

Chamberlain noted, “These awards celebrate and honor a person and organization or businesses that has made a significant contribution to the betterment of the Oswego City School District and its students. This award recognizes those who have supported and encouraged the education of Oswego’s children through their outstanding leadership, service, volunteerism and or donations.”

Once again nominations were submitted and a committee, consisting of representatives of all levels of the district was joined by a parent representative to select this year’s deserving winners.

Human Resource Manager John Mosher, Employee Assistance Leader Mike Ferlito and Human Resource Coordinator Carol Dillabough accepted the honor on behalf of Novelis.

Crist noted, “Novelis consistently shows support of our schools and continues through its involvement with the wellness day this past year, awareness and education of recycling in our schools and their ongoing support both financially and through volunteerism of our community and school district. Our community would experience an irreplaceable void without a company as dedicated to our schools as Novelis.”

Mosher said Novelis values the work of the Oswego City School District and noted that graduates from the district are their employees.

Novelis has promoted wellness, nutrition and recycling.

The wellness day last September was attended by not only every Oswego City School District student, but teachers, support staff and numerous parents.

This community-wide event brought recognition to the Oswego community and enhanced the learning experiences of Oswego’s children.

Novelis has also shown a tremendous commitment to providing future educational experiences with scholarships to deserving students and has actively participated in the annual holiday giving programs.

This is the fourth consecutive year that the “Friends of Education” Award has been presented and among the previous recipients were the Oswego Rotary, the Oswego Elks Club and Entergy.

For the second year the “Friend of Education” Award was presented as Dr. Robert Morgan was the latest honoree.

Crist said, “Dr. Morgan epitomizes the true friend of our school district by his unselfish actions throughout the years. He is a unique individual who shows genuine interest and concern for how he can make our schools a better place for students.”

Chamberlain noted, “He has taken the lead in the recent growth of the Buccaneer Boosters. He has arranged a partnership that has Oswego Health providing a new neurological on line ImPact Testing program for all Oswego athletes which should a student suffer a head injury those statistics will be critical in assisting in recovery.”

He also spearheaded a Sports Health Day for our Spring athletes during which four of his medical colleagues joined him to present sports related health topics to Oswego’s athletes to better educate them on health issues as they relate to sports they play.

Dr. Morgan has feverishly pursued corporate sponsorship opportunities for the Buc Boosters and this has resulted in several lucrative sponsors.

For years he volunteered his time to present life changing information to our developing elementary students and this was critical in their physical development.

Dr. Morgan thanked the district for the honor and noted that he felt that assisting schools and students was very important and that it was part of being a member of the community. missing or outdated ad config
