“We recognize and appreciate all that Novelis employees and corporate does for the people of Oswego County,” said Luber. “Dick Delaney and his employee campaign team did a tremendous job. Their enthusiasm for the United Way and their dedication to the success of the Novelis campaign play an important role as they inspire their fellow employees to give back to the community by supporting their local United Way. Their efforts to share the mission of the United Way and the encouragement they receive from the Novelis Corporation are truly commendable as the donations that we receive from Novelis’ Employee Campaign and from Novelis corporate have a significant impact on the success of our annual campaign.”

Luber also credited Delaney and the Novelis team for their meticulous planning and getting an early start to their campaign.

“They actually set their goal and began their campaign in August and raised additional funds to supplement what they would collect in employee donations by participating in Taste of Oswego and holding a drawing for Syracuse University Football tickets. In addition, Novelis Corporate, the world leader in aluminum rolling as well the world leader in recycling of used aluminum beverage cans, held a soccer match in Germany and presented Novelis’ Oswego Plant with $5,000 for a charity of their choice. They chose the United Way and presented us with a check for $5,000 at our annual campaign kickoff,” she said.

Delaney was also pleased with the results of the campaign and praised the teamwork of his co-workers.

“The Novelis employee campaign was successful because we approached it as a team. We are all part of teams. Our family is a team. Our place of work is a team. The community groups we belong to are teams. Sometimes we are the team leader or ‘coach,’ while other times we fulfill the role of follower or ‘player,’ he said.

“Our team developed and communicated a vision which concluded with exceeding our goal for the United Way Campaign. We were always updating the team as to where they are in the campaign and what adjustments need to be made to make sure we met or exceeded our goal. On the company side, volunteer work can increase team morale, strengthen team building, improve recruitment and retention of employees, and enhance our corporate image.  A big Thank You goes out to all our generous employees!” he added.

Delaney added that his campaign team and the employees of Novelis realize the importance of supporting United Way.

“United Way helps to support many organizations that address the needs that exist in our community. Our company recognizes the many benefits of being socially responsible to our community. We feel that United Way is the best agency to handle our support for our community,” he said.
