SYRACUSE, NY – The Onondaga Community College campus will become smoke and tobacco free this Thursday, July 1.

Smoke, tobacco, electronic cigarette/electronic aerosol delivery device use will be prohibited indoors and outdoors on the OCC campus beginning Thursday.

As part of OCC’s new Smoke and Tobacco Free policy, tobacco and electronic cigarette/electronic aerosol delivery device sales will be prohibited on campus. Also, the college will not allow advertising, marketing, distribution, or promotion of tobacco or electronic cigarette/electronic aerosol delivery device products on campus.

Students and college employees will be able to access cessation treatment, including counseling and nicotine replacement therapy on campus.

“Tobacco use is the leading preventable cause of death in our country. We are dedicated to providing a safe and healthy learning environment for the entire campus community. Being smoke and tobacco free is a significant step in that direction,” said OCC President Dr. Casey Crabill.
