Carolyn Handville, program manager for the Cancer Services Program Partnership (CSPP), has been making appearances at these businesses to distribute information on the free mammograms and other free cancer screenings including clinical breast exams, pap/pelvic exams and colorectal cancer screenings that are offered through the CSPP and to register eligible community members who are both uninsured and between 40 and 64 years of age to receive their free screenings.

The Cancer Services Program Partnership’s efforts to raise awareness of breast cancer will culminate on October 27 when they form the third  Annual Human Pink Ribbon in Oswego County.

Handville is asking community members to get their pink on and join them at 10 a.m. that day at the Hannibal IGA, Route 3 in Hannibal to form the ribbon.

“We’re excited about our third  Annual Human Pink Ribbon,” said Handville. “Thanks to the many businesses we have partnered with, such as salons and hair stylists throughout Oswego County, we have been delivering our message of the importance of regular cancer screenings and informing the community on the many free cancer screenings and services that are offered through the Cancer Services Program Partnership.”

“We are especially grateful to the staff of the Hannibal IGA for their support. In addition to hosting our third Annual Pink Ribbon celebration they are wearing breast cancer awareness shirts, offering customers the opportunity to sign pledge cards that will be displayed at the store for a $1 donation and offering in store specials in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month,” added Handville.

The Cancer Services Program’s Pink Ribbon Ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. at the Hannibal IGA.

There will be free refreshments and drawings for door prizes.

The formation of the Human Pink Ribbon will take place at 10:30 a.m.

“We have commitments from the Hannibal Volunteer Fire Department, the auxiliary and the Hannibal School District.  I invite community members to join us as we raise awareness of breast cancer in Oswego County and spread the word of the importance of regular cancer screenings,” added Handville.
