OCO Giving Thanks To Host Food Drive

FULTON – With the ongoing government shutdown threatening and disrupting vital food assistance programs (like SNAP and WIC), the pressure on our local pantries has reached a breaking point. Families, seniors, and children who rely on these services are facing a desperate situation.

To help stock the shelves of our local food banks, OCO is taking action and will be hosting a food drive at its upcoming Giving Thanks Food and Beverage Pairing event.

“This is an emergency appeal to collect food items for our local food banks,” said OCO Development Coordinator Bridget Dolbear, “The need for food in our community is critical. If you are joining us for the wonderful OCO Giving Thanks Food and Beverage Pairing Event on November 14th, please transform your attendance into an act of profound community support. The food drive at OCO Giving Thanks is more than just a collection; it’s an essential lifeline for our neighbors in need of food.”

OCO will be accepting donations of shelf stable foods. Items most in need include:

Protein power foods such as peanut butter, canned or pouch tuna and chicken.

Hearty Meals such as canned soup, stews, and chili.

Staples like canned fruit, vegetables and beans, shelf stable milk, snacks and crackers.

“Every jar, every can, every box brought to our Giving Thanks event directly supports a neighbor who is struggling to put food on the table this month. Your generosity at the event will bring genuine relief and hope!”

OCO’s Giving Thanks Food and Beverage Pairing will be held November 14th from 6:00 to 9:00 pm at the Lake Ontario Event and Conference Center, 26 East 1st Street in Oswego.
