Participants in OCO’s Congregate Meal Program now have the opportunity to take advantage of the program’s new, restaurant coupon program. MaryLou Guindon, center manager for OCO’s Senior Activity and Dining Center in Parish said, “For the same rate as the congregate meals we serve at the center, our participants will be able to enjoy a delicious and nutritious meal at the Grist Mill Restaurant in Parish. Coupons for the program can be picked up at our Parish Senior Activity and Dining Center located on Ryder Street at the Parish / Hastings Presbyterian Church. Those wishing to redeem the coupons at the Grist Mill Restaurant will be able to order from a special menu featuring meals that been approved by our dietitian to follow Office for the Aging guidelines and regulations.”

Located at 3030 County Route 26 in Parish, just off exit 33 of Interstate 81, the Grist Mill is a family style restaurant, open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

As the restaurant coupon program is part of OCO’s congregate meal program it is available in the same way that the meals served at the center are. Any one who is 60 and older and a resident of Oswego County is entitled to a meal regardless of their ability to pay. Those able to contribute to the cost their meal, which is $3, may do so voluntarily.

“We are pleased to be able offer this service to our seniors,” said Guindon. “As much as they enjoy sharing a meal at our center, it’s always a special treat to eat at a restaurant. We are also grateful that the Grist Mill Restaurant is partnering with us to make this program possible.”

Guindon added that funding for the restaurant coupon program is provided by Oswego County Government through Office for the Aging.

OCO’s Senior Nutrition Services administers eight Dining and Activity Centers where seniors can enjoy a hot, nutritious noontime meal and visit with friends.
