OHS Bucs To March In Independence Day Parade

OSWEGO, NY – The Pride of Oswego, the Oswego High School Marching Buccaneers, will be part of one of the most anticipated events of the summer, the 47th annual Independence Day Celebration.

On July 4, the Marching Buccaneers will join a number of other bands as the Oswego Independence Day parade kicks off the celebration.

Beginning at 1 p.m., this year’s parade, featuring the theme “Honoring our Heritage,” will travel from East Seventh Street and continue west on Bridge Street to Liberty Street.

One of the highlights of the summer, the parade will offer an entertaining mix of music, floats, displays and marching bands.

In addition to the Marching Buccaneers, The Island Band, The Kingston Grenadiers and the CNY Fire and Police Band will fill the parade route with music.

Sunday evening, following the parade, the 47th Annual Independence Celebration continues with live music in scenic Breitbeck Park preceding the fireworks.

The concert begins at 8 p.m. with a performance of the National Anthem featuring the Mexico Brass and the Veterans Color Guard.

The Oswego High School Jazz Ensemble takes the stage at 8:05 p.m. followed by the Mexico Brass at 9 p.m.

The celebration concludes with a breathtaking fireworks display over the Oswego Harbor at 9:45 p.m.

Sponsored by the Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce and the city of Oswego, this year’s fireworks display will provide the perfect ending to the celebration.
