OSWEGO, NY – Oswego Middle School String Orchestra was well represented at the annual All-County Orchestra Festival at G. Ray Bodley High School in Fulton.
The students performed with other student musicians on March 18-19.
Oswego Strings Orchestra Director Deb Mazurek said, “The students had to audition for judges in December in order to be chosen to perform with this elite group. They rehearsed intensively with other students from not only Oswego County, but also from the Auburn School District.”
Representing Oswego Middle School were Beatta Trovato, Ryan Smith, Mark Forger, Erin Delaney, Jenna Ballard, Claire Richardson, Chloe Patterson, Christopher Chalifoux, Caitlyn Johndrew, Ben Chatterton, Andrew Hook, Nick Lewis, Reilly Patrick, Angela Rookey, Kaylee Baldwin, Jared Jaquin, Ashton Flint, Andrew Osetek, Mariel Schickling and Katelyn Wise.
The guest conductor was Julie Along-Carr, former Cortland School High School Orchestra Director and Music Chairman, and currently a professor at the Ithaca College School of Music.
Mazurek said, “The students performed three difficult pieces with outstanding musicianship. I am very proud of the artistry and work ethic of the OMS String students that they displayed during the festival and the audience was very enthusiastic at the culminating concert.”
