Oswego Children’s Theater To Present ‘Eat’

OSWEGO – The Oswego Children’s Theater’s Teen Ensemble will present a performance of its award-winning production of the one-act drama “Eat (It’s Not About Food)” at 7 p.m. on May 7 at the New Haven Congregation Church.

“Eat (It’s Not About Food)” dramatizes the dangerous and baffling world of eating disorders in teens.

Candidly exploring causes and warning signs, the play takes a hard look at the influences of society and the media and tells individual stories of young people struggling with this epidemic and too often tragic problem.

The show was recently performed at The Michael J. Harms Theater Festival on the Auburn campus of Cayuga Community College, where it won the award for Best Production by a Community Theater Group.

Cast member Caroline Gray was awarded the Chameleon Award for her outstanding performance of many different roles during the course of the show.

Gray is an Oswego High School junior, and has appeared in many OCT productions over the years.

She has been performing with the group since she was 10 years old.

The cast also includes Mexico High School senior Mary Buske and Oswego Middle School’s Ella Shambo.

Buske, a long-time OCT participant, choreographed Mexico High’s spring production of “Mary Poppins” and was recently seen as the narrator in OCT’s “The Veleveteen Rabbit.”

Shambo was most recently seen in OCT’s 2008 production of “The Wizard of Oz.”

“Eat (It’s Not About Food)” is directed by Lyndsie Lee Jones assisted by Wayne and Kelly Mosher.

The show was written by Linda Daugherty and is presented by special arrangement with Dramatic Publishing.

“Eat (It’s Not About Food)” will be presented at the performance space in the New Haven Congregational Church, located on Route 104 East, between Oswego and Mexico.

Tickets are set at $5 for all seats.
