Oswego Community Youth Orchestra In Concert

OSWEGO, NY – The Oswego Community Youth Orchestra presents From Seville to The Steppes, a musical journey from Europe to Asia, on Nov. 14 in Sheldon Ballroom SUNY Oswego at 7 p.m.

Works to be included are The Overture to the Barber of Seville by Rossini, From the Steppes of Central Asia, by Borodin, the Bach Double Concerto for Two Violins, with soloists Emilie Benigno and Mackenzie Palmer, and Alla Tchaikovsky, an entertaining frolic through 22 excerpts from Tchaikovsky works, arranged by Richard Meyer.

Tickets are $5 and are available at river’s end bookstore or at the door the evening of the event.

The Oswego Community Youth Orchestra, directed by Jackie Darvill, is enjoying its fourth season, and is open to any student through high school by audition.

Its mission is to challenge and nurture young area musicians to strive for excellence, to explore their role in humanity, and to contribute beauty to the community, through the study and performance of orchestral music.
