Students from Oswego County BOCES’ Burton Ramer Technical Career Center were awarded medals in 22 separate competitions during the SkillsUSA Section II Regional Competition held at State University of New York at Morrisville on Friday, February 15.

The annual competition gave students from 16 area participating centers the opportunity to compete against one another in timed technical, trade and leadership contests.
First place gold medals were awarded to the following students for these contests: Quiz Bowl – Austin Smith (Phoenix); Steven McDougall (Fulton); Maggie Charlebois (Oswego); Jordan Breckheimer (Phoenix); and Donny O’Bryan (Fulton); Nursing Assistant – Jennifer Wells (Mexico); Advertising Design – Christopher Darling (Phoenix); Collision Repair – Jacob Baker (Fulton); Computer Maintenance Technology – Nelson Leach (Fulton); Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) – Alyssa Snyder (Sandy Creek); Steven Stonecypher (Central Square); and Karleigh Stuckey (Sandy Creek); and Floral Design: Corinne Congdon (Central Square).

Second place silver medals were awarded to the following students for these contests: First Aid/CPR – Jonathan Przepiora (Hannibal); Related Technical Math – Kyle Norton (Oswego); Carpentry – Robert Miller (Fulton); Collision Repair – Brandon Furlon (Fulton); Computer Maintenance Technology – Perrin Ogden (Fulton); Floral Design – Ashley Emmons (Mexico); Internetworking – Robert Janey (Oswego); Masonry – Corey Reff (Sandy Creek); Nail Care – Chelsea Monroe (Hannibal); and Photography – Cheyenne Hier (Central Square).
Third place bronze medals were awarded to the following students for these contests: Carpenter’s Assistant – Vince Hall; Floral Design – Kristin Hartel (Fulton); Internetworking – Justin Watson (APW); and Precision Heavy Equipment – Cody Dolan (Mexico). The Early Childhood Education team also received a bronze medal for Promotional Bulletin Board.

OCB students will go on to compete in the upcoming SkillsUSA State Competition in Syracuse on April 24, 25, and 26 at the New York State Fairgrounds.
