FULTON – Oswego County Federal Credit Union has been a longstanding sponsor of ‘Shop with a Hero’, providing support since the first year Oswego and Fulton partnered with the Phoenix Police Dept. to host the annual event. As a token of appreciation and recognition of their commitment to the children of Oswego County, the credit union was named the Presenting Sponsor for 2024.
“Bill Carhart and his caring team at Oswego County Federal Credit Union do so much for the children of our county and we felt it was appropriate to recognize them on this level”, stated Patrick Dewine, executive director at United Way of Oswego County. “The generosity of this credit union to the Shop with a Hero event is pivotal to the overall success of the program and their kindness makes them the ultimate hero” added Dewine.
Bill Carhart, CEO of Oswego County Federal Credit Union stated, “The Credit Union is privileged to be able to support the Shop with a Hero program…this amazing program provides an opportunity for children to give a gift to the ones they love.”

Shop with a Hero is a special program that provides marginalized children the opportunity to be paired with community leaders and holiday shop for their loved ones or themselves. Each child was given a gift card to use while shopping with a “hero” and then treated to lunch, which was generously provided by Chick-fil-A. While enjoying their meal, all their gifts were wrapped by employees of Walmart. Each child was also given holiday treats and a goody bag and visited with Santa.
