“We’re delighted to offer these scholarships in support of our future leaders and stewards of our community,” Carhart said. “OCFCU offers these scholarships in partnership with the New York State Credit Union League, Inc. (NYSCUL) and the Syracuse Chapter of Credit Unions. Each winner submitted an application, essay and test transcripts in late winter. There is no fee to submit an application, but applicants must be members of OCFCU and be heading to college for the first time to either a two- or four-year accredited educational institution. Applications were judged against others submitted from all over the state by the NYSCUL.

“We wish them every success as they embark on their college careers.”

In Dec. 2010, OCFCU opened a brand new office in Mexico at 5828 Scenic Ave. (Route 3) where they converted and renovated the village’s former railroad depot into a modern credit union, Carhart said. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2002. The credit union’s third office is at 300 W. 1st St. in Oswego.
