Oswego County Federal Credit Union Introduces Visa® Secured Credit Card to Help Build Credit

Oswego County Federal Credit Union

OSWEGO – November 7, 2024- Oswego County Federal Credit Union (OCFCU) has launched a new Visa® secured credit card, designed to help members build or repair their credit with confidence. This card is ideal for individuals with low or no credit history, providing a valuable opportunity to establish or improve their credit score.

The secured credit card functions by requiring a deposit that matches the credit limit and is secured in the cardholder’s savings account. This safeguards the cardholder and the credit union while offering the advantages of a typical credit card. Key features include a low fixed interest rate of 12.99% APR (Annual Percentage Rate), and no cash advance, annual, or balance transfer fees. Cardholders can make payments online, by phone, or in person at OCFCU. Additionally, members can enjoy a 1% discount off their standard APR on purchases made in Oswego County.

Bill Carhart, CEO of OCFCU shared, “Our secured credit card is more than just a financial tool—it’s a way for individuals to take control of their financial futures. By offering a card that builds credit, we’re helping people achieve greater financial freedom and independence. At OCFCU, our mission is to empower the communities we serve and this card aligns perfectly with that goal.”

OCFCU’s secured credit card is designed to enhance financial literacy and provide a stepping stone for better financial health. By building or repairing credit responsibly, individuals can gain access to more financial opportunities in the future, such as loans and better interest rates.
