MAKE A DIFFERENCE FOR A SENIOR – Residents are invited to create meal kits for seniors facing food insecurity. People can pick from three suggested options, such as chicken alfredo, chili mac or breakfast. They can also create their own meal kit, if all ingredients are included in a two-gallon plastic bag and the meal only requires a heat source or water. Meal kits can be dropped off at the Oswego County Office for the Aging, 74 Bunner St., Oswego, weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. until Friday, Nov. 13. Pictured is an example of a meal kit. OSWEGO COUNTY – The Oswego County Office for the Aging (OFA) leads a meal kit collection for seniors facing food insecurity. Donations can be dropped off at the OFA weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. now through Friday, Nov. 13. The OFA is located at 74 Bunner St., Oswego.

The meal kits are designed to help seniors in need who may live in rural areas without access to food sources or who have exhausted other food resource options.

Options for meal kit donations are as follows:

  • Chicken Alfredo: one can of shredded chicken, one jar of alfredo sauce, one package of pasta and one packet of Italian seasoning
  • Chili Mac: one box of macaroni and cheese, one can of chili, one can of diced tomatoes and one can of green beans
  • Breakfast: oatmeal, dried or canned fruit and granola bars

Residents can also make their own meal kits, if they include all the necessary ingredients in a two-gallon plastic bag and only require a heat source or water.
