OSWEGO – Oswego County Opportunities (OCO) kicked off the celebration of its 60th anniversary with the opening of its new office building at 10 George Street in Oswego.
Marked with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on March 13th, the new facility now serves as a central hub for a wide array of OCO programs. The building houses Community Health, Care Point Services, Homeless Services, Prevention Services, IPAN, Health Homes, SAF, Cancer Services, OPTIONS, WIC, Reproductive Health, and BFFNY. Each of these programs provides critical services that address the health and well-being of those we serve, directly supporting OCO’s vision to provide the resources and support necessary for individuals to improve their quality of life.
Local dignitaries, including Oswego Mayor Rob Corradino and Fulton Mayor Jim Rice, joined OCO Executive Director Kevin Dean, OCO Board Members, County Legislators, and community partners to celebrate the grand opening alongside agency staff.
“We are proud to be celebrating our 60th year of being the backbone of this community,” said Dean. “When I think of OCO I think about the thousands of people we have helped so far and the tens of thousands we will be helping in the future. I also think of the countless volunteers that have donated their time to support all of our programs.
This building is a new step for OCO. Bringing our programs together helps to breakdown the silos and makes it easier for people to access our services. It is a signal of our commitment to the community and part of much larger effort to combine the force of our services so we can provide the best services possible to the people of our community.”
Dean also thanked the staff for their efforts in providing a seamless transition to the new offices and those that worked to transform the building, including Rich & Gardner, TKF Architects, Usherwood Technology, Volney Multiplex, and Burritt Motors assistance in providing the new signage.
“I’d also like to acknowledge our many government and community services partners that support us in our mission,” added Dean.
Oswego Mayor Robert Corradino also recognized the significance of OCO’s 60th anniversary and the impact it has on the county and welcomed OCO’s new Executive Director Kevin Dean to the community.
“It is an honor to join OCO as they celebrate a remarkable milestone,” said Mayor Corradino. “When I became mayor I was blown away by all the organizations it supports and all the services they provide. 60 Years of servicing, strengthening and uplifting the people of our community is a testament of what’s possible when passion is paired with commitment, when innovation meets purpose, and when an organization never loses sight of the people they serve. The services that OCO provides are critical to the residents of the whole county.
OCO is woven into the fabric of Oswego County. OCO’s 60 year of action responding to needs as they arise and adapting to meet the challenges, provides a lifetime of impact. Since 1966, OCO has been a steady and reliable partner, helping families find stability, empowering individuals to reach their full potential, and insuring that no one in the county is left without support or hope.
I’m proud that OCO chose to locate their new building in Oswego. It’s a powerful symbol that represents growth, and a renewed commitment to serving our residents with dignity and care.
I extend a warm welcome to OCO Executive Director Kevin Dean. We are grateful to having you leading this next chapter. Your vision, energy and dedication will help guide OCO into the next 60 years and the city looks forward to working with you along the way.”
