The team shared information on its origins and mission, as well as Project Lifesaver, a program dedicated to locating missing persons with cognitive diseases and children with autism and other illnesses. Accepting the donation are OCPSRT member Dennis Merlino, who is holding a Project Lifesaver locator device, and Janet Clerkin, OCPSRT public information officer.
FULTON, NY – Representatives from the Oswego County Pioneer Search and Rescue Team (OCPSRT), were the featured program at the March meeting of the Fulton Lions Club.
Janet Clerkin, OCPSRT public information officer, and Dennis Merlino, team member, shared information on the history and missions of the team, as well as a demonstration and explanation of the Project Lifesaver program, which locates missing persons with Alzheimer’s, Autism and Down Syndrome.
The OCPSRT originated in Fulton in 1971, and assists local law enforcement agencies, NYS DEC, Emergency Medical Agencies, Fire and Rescue Departments, Forest Rangers, the Emergency Management Office, and NYS Federation of SAR Teams. Project Lifesaver is an international program run through the Oswego County Emergency Communications Dept. that helps recover family members with a cognitive illness, and children with autism and other conditions. The Fulton Lions Club made a $500 contribution to the team at the meeting.
