Oswego County Veterans’ Services Agency Invites Veterans to ‘Salute to the Troops’ Oct. 9

Register by Sept. 30 –

OSWEGO COUNTY – The Oswego County Veterans’ Services Agency (VSA) invites veterans to enjoy a night of racing action during Super DIRT Week on Friday, Oct. 9 at the Oswego Speedway located at 300 E. Albany St. Free tickets are available for veterans, who will be saluted for their service at the event.

“We’re happy to offer another free racing event for our veterans through the Joseph P. Dwyer Peer Support Program,” said Oswego County VSA Director Eric Boozer. “Beyond enjoying a great day together, this event provides veterans with an opportunity to connect with fellow veterans, learn more about the resources available to them, and be recognized and honored for their service to our country.”

Veterans can go to the main gate at 11 a.m. to get their tickets. A variety of activities will take place throughout the day, including live music, a cornhole tournament, DIRTcar last chance showdowns and more. The salute will be at 7 p.m., followed by the DIRTcar 358 Modified race. For a full schedule of events, visit https://superdirtweek.com/event-info/schedule/.

Registration is required and must be made by Wednesday, Sept. 30. To reserve a ticket, contact Veterans’ Principal Peer Mentor Ward Bowen at 315-746-2433 or [email protected].

The nation-wide program serves to provide support to veterans facing a wide range of challenges regarding their overall well-being and re-integration into civilian life.
