OSWEGO COUNTY – The Oswego County Veterans’ Services Agency (VSA) partners with the Oswego VFW Post 5885 to host two food drives for veterans this month. The events take place on Wednesday, Nov. 18 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. and Thursday, Nov. 19 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Oswego VFW, 14 Bronson St.
Veterans will need to present their DD214 or other form of veteran identification for this drive-up event.
Members of the public interested in donating non-perishable food items can bring their donations to the Oswego VFW until Tuesday, Nov. 17. Donations can be dropped off after 2 p.m. on weekdays or after noon on weekends.
Oswego County VSA is participating in the food drive as part of its Joseph P. Dwyer Peer Support Program. The national program was founded in memory of PFC Joseph P. Dwyer, who served as a combat medic for the U.S. Army in Iraq. The nationwide program serves to provide support to veterans facing a wide range of challenges regarding their overall well-being and re-integration into civilian life.
