Oswego Farmers’ Market Welcomes SUNY Oswego

OSWEGO, NY – The Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce Oswego Farmers’ Market, celebrating more than over 50 years as Oswego’s Community Block Party, welcomes SUNY Oswego to College Community Night on Thursday from 5-9 p.m. in downtown Oswego on West First Street between Bridge and Oneida streets.

The mayor’s College Community Relations Committee together with the Downtown Business Committee of the Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce is working to make the market one that will welcome thousands of SUNY students back to Oswego and has planned a number of special events for the evening including:

Representatives from the CCRC will have a booth during the market to greet students and welcome them to the community.

Flags in SUNY Oswego’s colors of green and gold will adorn West First Street.

The Oswego Jazz Project, a jazz quartet of SUNY Oswego faculty and students (sponsored by Port City Café & Bakery), will provide the musical entertainment for the market.

SUNY Oswego’s Center will provide transportation for the students to the market.

The Oswego State downtown store will have special gear available for purchase for Green and Gold day on Friday.

“This is a very special event that will carry on into Friday which is National College Colors Day,” said Executive Director of the Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce Beth Hilton. “Our Downtown Business Committee is encouraging the community to show their support and appreciation of SUNY Oswego staff, students and faculty by participating in National College Colors Day by also donning their green and gold. We are also encouraging businesses to become involved by welcoming SUNY Oswego staff, students and faculty into their stores and offer a special discount to anyone in the community wearing green and gold. We are looking forward to a fun two days that will help acquaint those at SUNY Oswego with our business community.”

The Oswego Farmers’ Market hosts more than 50 vendors offering a great selection of fresh produce, homemade baked goods, delicacies and plenty of arts and crafts.

The Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce, and the city of Oswego sponsor the market, which continues each Thursday through Oct. 8.
