OSWEGO, NY – Oswego Farmers’ Market Manager Gail Goebricher of the Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce announced that participants in the NYS Food Stamp / EBT (Electronic Benefits Transfer) Program are able to use their EBT cards to purchase special Farmers’ Market EBT tokens which can be redeemed at various market vendors.

Participants in the EBT Program can visit the chamber booth at the market and purchase EBT tokens.

The tokens can be used to purchase eligible food and food plant products from vendors at the market.

Eligible items include: fruits, vegetables, eggs, dairy products, baked goods, jams and jellies, honey, maple products, apple cider, and other items such as plants or seeds used to grow food for human consumption.

“We are very happy to be able to offer this service to those who are participating in the EBT Program,” said Goebricher.  “This option makes it convenient for them to purchase items such as maple syrup, honey and baked goods along with the many fresh fruits and vegetables that are available at the Oswego Farmers’ Market each week.”

The market continues Thursdays from 5 – 9 p.m. on West First Street through Oct. 9.

Animals are prohibited from the market.

The chamber and the city sponsor the market.
