Sponsored by the chamber and the city of Oswego, the market has served as the community’s block party for more than 50 years and has provided market goers with a excellent selection of farm fresh fruits and vegetables along with homemade baked goods, a variety of arts and crafts, live entertainment and much more.

During National Farmers’ Market Week, the chamber and the city pays tribute to the hundreds of small farm businesses in Oswego County who represent the true entrepreneurial spirit of America.

The official proclamation states, “It is important to give recognition to our local farm businesses and markets, who every day join a nationwide force of farmers that generate the food to feed millions of citizens.  Small farm businesses and markets play a vital role in the economic success of our city and county, putting forth the hard work, determination and stamina to make their dreams become a reality. The citizens of Oswego and the surrounding area can experience the colorful abundance of nutritious, high quality New York state foods, the aroma of fresh produce and the friendly banter of farmers and customers, neighbors and families. A visit to the farmers market is an adventure, one that can be experienced every summer in our Oswego community.”

“We are pleased to be recognizing our market vendors for the wonderful contribution they make to our market, and our hard-working farmers’ market committee members who schedule the entertainment and make the market such an enjoyable experience all summer long,” added Jennifer Hill, executive director of the Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce.

The Oswego Farmers’ Market continues each Thursday from 5 – 9 p.m. on West First Street in downtown Oswego through Oct. 9.
