Oswego, NY – Members of the Oswego Firefighter’s Association Local #2707 have joined up with the business community to support this holiday season’s US Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program in Oswego. The mission of the program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community.
The Broadwell Companies (including the Quality Inn & Suites Riverfront, Best Western Captain’s Quarters, and GS Steamers), as well as Oswego-based marketing firm Step One Creative have joined on as major sponsors of this year’s program.
“We are very proud to be a part of the Toys for Tots program once again this year,” said Lt. Brooks Hourigan of the Oswego Firefighter’s Association Local #2707. “The cause is considerable in this community, and we want to make sure that every child has an opportunity to open a gift during the holiday season.”
According to local Toys for Tots Coordinator Chris Jones, this year’s toy drive is underway and will run through Monday, December 19th.
“The business community support for our Toys for Tots program has been tremendous over the years,” said Jones. “And, we really appreciate the partnership of the Oswego Firefighter’s Association Local #2707, Broadwell Companies, Step One Creative, and the others who continue to step up for the cause.”
“We welcome the community to seek out the Toys for Tots drop boxes and make this holiday extra special for those children and families less fortunate,” he added.
Drop off box locations within the Oswego community include: Burger’s Okinawan Karate School, Novelis Corp, Canale’s Restaurant, American Legion, VFW, Lighthouse Lanes, Oswego County FCU, Azteca Restaurant, Wal-mart, JC Penney’s, Raby’s Ace Hardware, River’s End Bookstore, Alliance Bank, Quality Inn & Suites Riverfront, Best Western, Bridie Manor, Lisa’s Centre of Dance Artistry, Burritt Motors, Planet Fitness, VA Clinic, City Hall, K&G LODGE/ 1881 Steakhouse, Dynamic Sound & Security, Clearview Pool & Stove, Big Lots, A Finishing Touch Salon, Beacon Hotel, Leo Pryor’s Taekwondo America, All Kinney Locations, Supercuts, and The Oswego Police Department.
According to Jones, there are numerous other drop box locations throughout Oswego County and Central New York.
Additionally, Jones said to mark the calendar for the third annual Day of Sharing Toys for Tots benefit, which will be held on Saturday, November 26th at the Quality Inn & Suites Riverfront Hotel (formerly EconoLodge) at 70 East First Street in Oswego. Santa Claus arrives at Noon and photos with Santa are Free with your contribution to Toys for Tots from Noon-2 pm. Live music by a variety of CNY musicians who have donated their talents for the day will perform from 2 pm to 6 pm. Community supporters can come out and enjoy some great music and food for Toys for Tots. Drop off boxes will be available that day.
