OSWEGO- Oswego Health unveiled a new low-dose computed tomography scanner at Oswego Hospital during an open house event held March 15.

The new 128-slice CT completes testing faster and safer, with a 30 to 40 percent reduction in radiation dose, depending upon the requested study.
A CT scan is one of the fastest and most accurate tools for examining the chest, abdomen and pelvis because it provides detailed, cross-sectional views of all types of tissue.
It is also used to examine patients with injuries from trauma, such as a motor vehicle accident, as well as patients with acute symptoms such as chest pain, abdominal pain or difficulty breathing.
It is also often the best method for detecting and monitoring many different cancers.
