OSWEGO, New York – On Monday, January 4th the Oswego Hospital will be closing its main entrance on West Sixth Street until early spring.

While this entrance is closed, the public will enter the hospital at the temporary emergency entrance also on West Sixth Street. Signage will be in place to direct the public to the temporary entrance. At this entrance, customer care representatives are assigned to greet the public and assist them to their desired location in the hospital. A customer care representative is assigned to this entrance 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

As the Oswego Hospital continues construction on its $14 million Emergency Department expansion and first floor renovations, the main entrance, which is part of the project, has to close in order to complete that phase of the renovations.

“While we can appreciate the temporary inconveniences this may incur, this phase of the construction will help us nearly complete portions of the first floor construction, and also complement many of the areas already being finalized,” said Public Relations Manager Marion Ciciarelli.

According to Ciciarelli, some renovated first floor areas recently opened include; the offices for medical records, the office for medical affairs, as well as two new public restrooms. The patient registration department is temporarily using the new hospital library, also on the first floor, while that department’s new area is being constructed.

“Once construction is complete in late 2010, community members will have access to some of the best facilities in Central New York,” said Ciciarelli. “These improvements parallel the major construction projects that renovated the surgery center, maternity center and intensive care unit.”

“Oswego Health is committed to providing quality healthcare locally, so that our residents don’t have to travel outside the community for the best in care,” she added.

As construction progresses, the public will be kept informed with regular updates. If you have any questions or concerns, please call 315- 349-5500 weekdays 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The Oswego Healthcare system includes the Oswego Hospital, The Manor at Seneca Hill, a skilled nursing facility; Springside at Seneca Hill, a retirement living community; an urgent care center in Fulton, as well as health services centers in Mexico, Parish and now Phoenix.
